I want to encourage you to pay attention to the cultivation of personal holiness. As Paul reminded Timothy, "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity (1 Tim 4:12, NIV)," so we must also heed his exhortations seriously today. Be an example in purity!

In the uphill battle to uphold personal holiness, we are confronted with at least three challenges:

1. Instant Access
We are in an age where instant access to all sorts of data and information is readily available. The good news is that we have shortened the time of searching for vital information, but the bad news is that we are fully exposed to all kinds of distractions, including seductive and pornographic sites. When we are stressed out or lonely, we may be tempted to spend time surfing the internet and drift to these dangerous content.

2. Baggage
Some of us carry baggage from the past that has not been properly dealt with. We may have managed to be in control and learnt how to live with it. However, under intense pressure over a prolonged period of time, the contents of the baggage spill into our ministry. They may be old habits that have resurfaced or old wounds that have reopened, making us vulnerable to the onslaught of the Devil. They may also be long-buried doubts and identity criss that resurrect to haunt us. Our personal holiness can easily be compromised when we are assaulted by our unresolved past.

3. Anonymity
One of the baits of temptation is anonymity. The promise of privacy offers a safe haven for imaginations to run wild. It also emboldens us to cross the boundary towards the dark side. Furthermore, because it is not exposed, it tends to be repeated. Temptations will meet the path of least resistance under the cover of darkness, leaving little room for personal holiness.

As we seek to be faithful servants of Jesus Christ by labouring diligently in the ministry of the church, let us remember that one of the greatest blessings we can give to the church is to live a holy life. It takes intentional cultivation to overcome the seduction of the flesh:

(1) Be committed to an accountability group because accountability takes away the lure of anonymity;
(2) Be serious in our repentance because repentance really means to turn away from our old ways of life and to sin no more; and
(3) Be aware of the omnipresence of God because it keeps us vigilant when we are alone.

Let's commit ourselves to be an example of purity.

在秉持个人圣洁的过程，我们最少会面临三方面的挑战：

第一：快捷的资讯
我们正处于一个互联网络兴盛，数位传输技术进步的时代。各样资料与信息的传送快速便捷无远弗届。网络发展所带来的便利缩短了寻找资料的时间，不但为生活带来了便利更提升工作效率。不过，快捷的搜寻也使我们不经意地接触到容易使我们分心的内容，甚至是淫秽和情色网站。当我们面对压力，孤单寂寞之时，我们也许就把这些网站当作放松和发泄的管道。

第二：过往的包袱
你们是否还背负过去未处理好的包袱？我们或许认为已经学习如何应对和控制，但是当我们长期处于巨大的压力时，这些过去的包袱就会干扰我们的事奉。这些包袱可能是我们的恶习，或是我们的旧伤口，使撒旦有机可乘。包袱里也可能装了隐藏在我们心已久的怀疑和自我身份的危机，使我们在事奉岗位上动摇。这时，个人品格的圣洁就很容易被忽略。

第三：身份的隐藏
面对试探时其中最大的诱惑之一就是身份的隐藏。网络世界，不但为个人的隐私权保密，还提供了一个安全的幻想空间，让人任凭肆意妄为。它也使我们大胆地跨越界限，渐渐地步入黑暗的深渊。因为身份隐藏，我们更加地容易越陷越深而无法自拔。在这种情况下，我们将会忽略圣洁在我们品格中发展的重要性。

当我们致力于为教会事工培育基督耶稣的忠心仆人，让我们切记，我们能为教会带来最大的祝福是：过一个圣洁的生活。我们必须努力培养圣洁的品格，以克服肉体的欲望。

一、委身于一个值得信赖的团体，帮助你远离试探的诱惑。

二、真实的悔改。一个真实的悔改是完全脱离罪恶的生活方式和道路，不再重蹈覆辙。

三、不要忘记神是无所不在的，当我们单独一个人的时候更要警醒。

让我们一起委身成为一个圣洁的榜样！

Devotion time is a moment of blessing, a time between me and God.

And I feel that mornings are the best times to have quiet time before Him.

After every QT, I feel moved;
I receive power; I have hope;
I gain freedom; I attain faith;
I see light; I acquire revelation!

I am recharged after every quiet time with Him.

These are my recent revelations from quiet time:

The Gospel of John teaches us to have faith.

The First Book of John although short, is deep in meaning. It teaches us to love! We must live in the light of the Lord, in the love of the Lord, and in the life of the Lord.

Another book written by John titled Revelations gives us Christians Hope.

And this leads me to this word of encouragement I would like to give every student in YBS:
Have Faith, Hope and Love, and of these, Love is the greatest!

This is a reminder for all who has submitted your names to attend this special combined fellowship by the Young Adults fellowship and Youth Fellowship to partake the Lord's Last Supper.

Let us prepare our hearts before coming to attend this event.

Take some time to think on the great love our Lord has for us. From when God created Man and sinned against Him, God was angry and disappointed with Man.

But, because He loved us, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die for us on the cross. Because of this, we, as Man can reconciled with God.

This month is the month of Lent. And in 2 weeks time, we remember the day Jesus rose from the dead. Have you ponder on why our King, with no sins would die for us? Reason being very simple. Because of His Love for us.

Let us take a moment to think about how great his love has for us. Let us think about the route Christ walked thru with the pain, mockings for us.

A king, with no sins died for us on the cross.

"16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." Having difficulty finding time to study during weekends?

If you are, why don't you join the Happy Friends Club?
We are a group of students who are willing to help you out with your homework. Consultation sessions are on Sundays from 2:30pm to 4:30pm starting on the 17 Jan 2010 at the youth room (opp church office).

We will try as much as possible to cater tutors for your subjects.

Dear friends,

As we approach nearer to the camp date, let us prepare our hearts and pray for the camp!

Pray for :

The Camp Leader & Vice-Camp Leader (Jie Han & Gladys) - to lead the 4 days & 3 nights smoothly. Pray for a healthy body throughout the camp.
The Speaker (Reverend Zhang Shihua, 张仕华牧师) - who will speaking for the main theme topic and sub-topic. Pray for wisdom as he prepares the Word for the campers.
The Programs Committee (Zane + Jasmine) - Pray for wisdom and a tolerating heart as they handled the games especially outdoor games etc.
The Logistics Committee (Wenhan+ Macus+ Esmond + Michael) - Pray that the logistics people are able to work well with the other departments (co-ordination + preparation of logistics for games, venues etc) as they serve in the camp.
The Teachers and Group Leaders - Pray that the wisdom to lead the team and the wisdom to help the leaders and campers understand the sermons etc
The "Food ppl" - Pray that the sisters in charge of food as they prepare healthy meals for the campers :)
The photographers (Zhengyang + Veron+ Yii Han) - Pray for wisdom as they capture the various great memories for the camp. A camp montage is expected (hopefully) at the end of the camp. Pray for wisdom as they prepare for this montage. Pray for the "photo-printing" service as they served the campers giving them memories for the camp.
Pray for all campers as they prepare not only for the fun but for the yielding of the Word through his servant, Reverend Zhang Shihua (张仕华牧师).

Hello everyone! Its me again!

I am sure everyone knows why am I posting here! That's right! To tell you more about the camp! Hey pals I am here to tell everyone that registration has started so give me your fees and forms in order to sign up!

Just a reminder, remember months ago the pub committee gave the ICOM CD with some post-it notes pasted on it e.g. $5 discount, Extra 5 mins of sleep, a free massage from the PUB comms? You can use it during the camp.

Let me give you an example! Let's say you are very tired after playing the games, you can give the post-it notes to the pub committees in exchange for a free massage! But it can only be used once.

You can only enjoy all these privileges if you give your post-it notes to any of the publicity members i.e. Kenneth, Quan Mei or Zhengyang! So hurry up! If you guys have no forms, lost it or need extras, you can ask for more from us! (=

SOS Episode 2

SOS (Sin or Seek) Camp's Publicity

Episode 2

Episode 2 is about zheng yang meeting an innocent and weird new girl, Quanmei at the pub and quanmei is also being dragged there by a bad girl.

The 2 of them decided to escape from the pub and they succeeded!

They promised each other that they will meet each other again when fate meets.

One week later, Quanmei was transferred to zhengyang's school but she is new and weird and no one likes her because she is a nerd:(

She was contemplating whether to committ suicide or not that very night, as she was thinking, she tripped and fell but no one helped her.

Right at this moment, zhengyang appeared and help her up.

Quanmei complained to zhengyang that no one likes her and that she wants to commit suicide but zhengyang dissuade her to and brought her to the school counsellor.

However, the counsellor is not available, quanmei got very upset as she thinks that even the counsellor doesn't want to see her so she took out a "knife" and attempts to slit her wrists but zhengyang tries to stop her. They ended up snatching the knife from each other...

SO what will happen? Will Quanmei die?:( or what?

LOOK OUT FOR EPISODE 3 ON 11th October 2009!

Launch of Glory United Youth Ministry Logo : A success

Hi all!

Firstly, I would like to thank ALL for your great support for the mega-project "Creating a new identity - GUM" that lasted from Feb till Aug 09. It has been a long 7 mths "project" for the youth ministry. It is also a milestone for the ministry with our new logo as our new identity.

Thank you for supporting the launch and w.e.f 1st September 2009, we will be using our new logo!

Designers of the logo are Sis Yi Han & Sis Michelle.

Next...taking the oppotunity to thank the following people :

Media Team (Isaac Lim, Isaac Wong, Zheng Yang, Zane, Joshua, Jing Hong) - without them, this whole "project" will not happen

SOS Episode 1

SOS (Sink or Swim) camp's publicity!

Episode 1 synopsis

Zhengyang, 15, is an innocent boy and quarrelled with his father one day over a small matter of reaching home late. Despite knowing that his father was concerned about him, but he did not like being treated like a small kid so he talked back and the small argument grew into a heated one, causing Zhengyang to storm out of the house and to linger around some neighbourhood nearby. This is when he meets Kenneth, 17, the gangster and the "leader" of the neighbourhood. Kenneth tries to make the situation worse by agreeing that parents are naggy and tells Zhengyang not to care about them. Kenneth then forces and influences Zhengyang to go "Happy hour" with him so as to drown his sorrows. Upon arriving at the pub, Zhengyang is reluctant and a little scared, but Kenneth violently objects and will not let Zhengyang leave. . .

The Sudoku Challenge 2009 is finally here.
Please bear with me for the super long blog entry!!

Rules and Regulations

1. Eligibility: This contest is open only to youths in Glory Presbyterian Church, Singapore.

2. Conduct: By entering the contest, you agree to comply with and be bound by these rules and regulations. Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification from the contest. You further agree to comply with and be bound by the decisions of the organising committee, which are final and binding in all respects.

3. Judging and Selection of Winner(s): This contest has four questions in total. Only individual entries are allowed. You are reminded to use the same name, class and email address for each attempted question. Incomplete entries may be forfeited. A point system is in place to determine the winner. For each question, the first correct entry will receive 10 points. The subsequent correct entries will receive 9, 8, 7, 6 and 5 points respectively. All other correct entries will receive 5 points.

How to enter the competition?

- 求主帮助文书，能够与各部门有很好的协调，把每个星期的活动、报告及代祷事项准确的刊登在秩序单上，好让培训的弟兄姐妹更了解培训的动向。
- 求主赐文书一颗爱人的心，能够体恤委员的需要，并想出好的计划来促进委员之间的关系。
- 求主赐文书创意的思维，能设计出吸引人的布告栏，让教会的弟兄姐妹更认识培训。

- 求主帮助财政能细心、谨慎地点算每个星期的奉献，并妥善处理所有的收据和培训的钱财。

青少年培训导师团
少年培训导师团－余霖，程国团，贺颖珊，曾梅珍，林媛媛，吴丽宁，王恩显。

青年培训导师团－许丁毅长老，育伟传道，杜镇森，梁慧明，白志坚长老，李颖，陈攸南长老，洪国华。

1. 求神赐导师智慧，能够更好的来教导青少年，以生命影响生命。大部份的导师在事奉上都身兼多职，求主怜悯他们，使他们能平衡事奉与生活。

2. 为少年部导师祷告－为了更好的关怀学生，今年我们把中一和中二合班，中三和中四合班，每班有三到四位导师。这样的安排减少老师备课的次数，腾出的时间能做关怀的工作。

3. 为青年部导师祷告－求主预备师资。

4. 为培训的课程祷告－叶传道带领少年部几位导师，着手编写培训课程。求主赐智慧，让我们能有一个为本堂少年量身定做的课程。

全体培训
为青少年培训祷告－愿神大大使用这个事工，帮助青少年做主门徒，传主福音。

- Pray for God to lead the committee, and bless the chairpersons with wisdom and knowledge to lead the committee, so that in whatever we do is pleasing to God and according to his will.

Administration: Roxanne Toh, Janice Lim, Christine Soh
- Pray that God help them to have good co-ordination work with the other departments to collate information such as the activities for the week, announcements and prayer requests, accurately for the bulletin, so as to let the students know more about YBS's latest updates.
- Pray that God give them a caring heart, to understand the needs of the committee, and to come up with good ideas to foster better relationships between committee members.
- Pray that God give them creativity, to design an attractive bulletin board, allowing church members to know more about YBS.

Treasury: Gladys Sim
- Pray that God help the treasurer to be meticulous and careful in accounting for offering every week, and to do proper accounting for the receipts and money in YBS.

Logistics: Xie Wenhan, Timothy Sng
- Pray that God help them to continue to have good co-ordination, and a humble heart to teach the younger members.

Music: Toh Quan Mei, Yu Song, Zane Yew - Pray that God give them wisdom and knowledge to improve praise and worship in YBS, and to guide them as they lead the students to have a correct perspective of worship.

Ushering: Jasmine Ng, Loh Zheng Yang
- Pray for God's protection on the ushers, to be punctual for their duties, and to have good communication and co-ordination among themselves.
- Pray that the students will be responsible to put back their name tags to the correct containers, and also for class leaders to put the registers to their proper places.

All Committee Members
- Pray that God bless them with good time management, to be able to juggle between, family life, studies and their ministries in church, so as to be the salt and light of the Lord.
- Pray that God bless them with a heart of joy, to serve with all their heart and abilities, and also enjoy their ministry.
- Pray that God bless them with a healthy physical body and spiritual life, to cultivate the good habit of reading the bible and prayer. And to have their quiet time every day, so as to build a closer relationship with God.

YBS Teachers
Teaching students ages 13-16: Yu Lin, Sunny, Ying Shan, Zeng Mei Zhen, Lin Yuan Yuan, Wu Li Ning, Rain Ong.

Teaching students ages 17-20: Eld. Justin Khor, Pr. Willy Liu, Vincent Toh, Liang Hui Ming, Eld. Peh Chee Kian, Ida, Eld Chen Liu Nan, Hong Guo Hua.

1. Pray that God bless the teachers with wisdom to teach the students, using their lives to influence others. Pray for God's mercy on the teachers as many of them have multiple roles in church, pray that they can strike a balance between their ministry and their lives.

2. Pray for those teaching the youths - to be able to care more for the students. This year, the Sec1s and Sec2s combine class, likewise for the Sec3s and Sec4s. Every class has 3-4 teachers. This is done to lessen the number of lessons each teacher has to prepare, so as to do more pastoral care.

3. Pray for more teachers to teach the adolescents.

4. Pray for the curriculum of YBS - Pr Yip has led a group of teachers to draft out the curriculum for YBS. Pray for God to bless them with wisdom, so as to create a curriculum suited for the youths in our church.

YBS
Pray that God use this ministry in a great way, to help youths become disciples for Chirst, and to spread the gospel.
