Prayer Meeting & Prayer Requests!

Hi all...

Its the time of the year again where exams are flooding everyone..be it O levels, A levels or those in university ( projects etc). So.. lets take a moment each day of this week to pray for them!

Prayer for the week

Mon ( 25 Aug) : Pray for those having O levels prelims.

Tues: ( 26 Aug) : Pray for those having A levels prelims

Wed ( 27 Aug) : Pray for "The Promise" Musical ( Actors, Actresses, choir, committee, sub committee etc)

Thurs ( 28 Aug) : Pray for the church Gospel rally on Sat ( 30 Aug)

Fri ( 29 Aug) : Pray for Worship Nite 2008. ( rehearsals and everyone involved in it)

Sat ( 30 Aug) : 1. Pray for those in universities ( SIM, NUS, NTU, SMU) that they can cope with school and church ministries.

2. Pray for the speaker on Sunday.

Sun ( 31st Aug) : Give thanks ! Thank God for bringing us through this week.

All youths are encouraged to attend the prayer meeting as it will be a combined befriender training as well!

just a super random sharing.
somehow this verse has been popping up to me by a million and one ways that you can think of. yes..very interesting indeed! :)

I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13

yup. a very simple verse.
i have like loads of stuff to do. be it school, church, friends. all these commitments are kind of drowning me. but now, somehow i've been constantly reminded of this verse, it brought me strength. hopefully after reading this, you'll find strength that will last you throughout the day [or even forever!]! :)

WANTED: BEFRIENDERS AND USHERS

WANTED : BEFRIENDERS/USHERS

We would like to seek all the youths in GUM to be the befrienders & ushers for "The Promise" Musical held at NUS University Cultural Centre from 27 Nov to 29 Nov 2008.

Currently, we have

Ushers : 12 people!

Befrienders: 3 people!

our target is 65 !

if you have the calling to be a befrienders or ushers, please sign up with us !

booth will be at peixun counter next next sunday ( 17 Aug 2008) @ 930am and 1130am!

* There will be training for befrienders. More details will be given soon.

Tickets Sales

Tickets for the youths will be avaliable for sales on 17 Aug 2008 at 930am and 1130am respectively.

Tickets are FREE of charge as it have been fully subsidised by church. Please ensure that you pray and bring a non-christian friend to this musical!

The church has been allocated the tickets for 2 shows. ( 27 Nov afternoon & 29 Nov Night)

The youths are given the afternoon show for the 27 Nov 08

All because someone prayed !

Hi bros and sis,

A question for all : Do we throw away the 秩序单 everytime we were given by the ushers every sunday after every 培训? Do we take a look at the prayer requests and the upcoming events only when the annoucements is made and throw away after that? I would like to share this story " All because someone prayed" by Max Lucado. Think about it again before we even throw away the 秩序单. Bring it home and pray for the items on the prayer list. You never know your prayer works. Your prayer is important!


Those who pray keep alive the watch fires of faith. For the most partwe don’t even know their names. Such is the case of someone whoprayed on a day long ago.

His name is not important. His looks are immaterial. His gender is ofno concern. His title is irrelevant. He is important not because ofwho he was, but because of what he did.
He went to Jesus on behalf of a friend. His friend was sick, andJesus could help, and someone needed to go to Jesus, so someone went.

John writes: “So Mary and Martha sent someone to tell Jesus, ‘Lord,the one you love is sick’” (John 11:3).

Someone carried the request. Someone walked the trail. Someone wentto Jesus on behalf of Lazarus. And because someone went, Jesusresponded.

The Master heard the request. Jesus stopped whatever he was doing andtook note of the man’s words. This anonymous courier was heard by God.

You can talk to God because God listens. Your voice matters inheaven. He takes you very seriously. When you enter his presence, theattendants turn to you to hear your voice. No need to fear that youwill be ignored. Even if you stammer or stumble, even if what youhave to say impresses no one, it impresses God—and he listens. Helistens to the painful plea of the elderly in the rest home. Helistens to the gruff confession of the death-row inmate. When thealcoholic begs for mercy, when the spouse seeks guidance, when thebusinessman steps off the street into the chapel, God listens.

Intently. Carefully. The prayers are honored as precious jewels.Purified and empowered, the words rise in a delightful fragrance toour Lord. “The smoke from the incense went up from the angel’s handto God” (Rev. 8:4). Incredible. Your words do not stop until theyreach the very throne of God.

One call and heaven’s fleet appears. Your prayer on earth activatesGod’s power in heaven.
You are the someone of God’s kingdom. Your prayers move God to changethe world. You may not understand the mystery of prayer. You don’tneed to. But this much is clear: Actions in heaven begin when someoneprays on earth. What an amazing thought!
When you speak, Jesus hears.

And when Jesus hears, the world is changed.

All because someone prayed.
