28 brothers and sisters have returned home safely from mission trip at Kukup on Saturday night. Many have learnt and experience a lot during this trip. Thanks to all keeping us in prayers! Continue to pray for the mission work at Kukup. Youth outreach ministry will be going there four times in 2009. Pray for the planning and the trips in 2009. The church at Kukup will be ready during CNY period. Do continue to keep the church and youth outreach ministry in prayers as we proceed to the year 2009.

Praise the Lord that "The Promise" Musical has successful come to an closure, but i'm sure this is not the end of spreading the gospel but the start for follow-up events.
There are 100 over people who have accepted Christ as their Lord and savior!
Many have wanted to go into full time ministry and re-affirm commitment in their christian faith!
A big thank you to the youths who helped out as ushers and befrienders (kenneth, quanmei, jasmine, wanxuan, adeline, yisin, zhengyang, zane, junrong, jinghong) and many 600 befrienders and 10 over ushers during the 3 days at NUS-UCC. Hope that everyone learnt something while serving at the musical.
A job well done to all the cast, production cew and everyone involved in the musical!

Prayer Requests for "THE PROMISE" Musical
1. Pray for God’s glory to be revealed during the three days (6 shows) of the musical production
2. Pray for hearts to be opened to the gospel message.
3. Pray for spiritual protection against the enemy.
4. Pray for Befrienders to be courageous & bold to befriend and approach the crowd.
5. Pray for the Holy spirit to use this musical to convert lives.
6. Pray for God’s provision towards the production cost.
7. Pray for logistic, props and stage teams—safety, unity & good coordination
8. Pray for sound system, lighting equipments & system operator, sound system engineer for good coordination.
9. Pray for Actors / Actresses / Choirs / Dancers—safety & protection.
10. Pray for the seeds that will be planted will take root and bear fruits in the hearts of those who come for this musical.

Do continue to keep fellow brothers and sisters having exams in prayers.. The start of this week is i guessed A levels exams and the sec4s are ending their O's next week.. continue to keep them in prayers ya..
For universities students (those from davidians, solomon knights and young adult fellowship), i supposed exams start on the week of 17th Nov till end Nov.. so continue to keep them in prayers too!

just want to share a song with you at a school cell group gathering. The song title is called "Hope of nations". It has a chinese version " 耶稣 万国的盼望" Hope everyone enjoy the song! I'm sure many would have realized that we are all facing a period of economic recession from the news. The impact on us youths, young adults may not be a big impact. But, there are people around us, our friends or perhaps those impacted by the recession is suffering. They need comfort, our prayers to guide them thru this period of tough time. Most importantly, knowing who Jesus is. Hence, may what the song says, Jesus is our rock, our shield, our strength. Let us live to glorify God! Do everything with our best for God! Be a living testimony to our friends around us ! Witnessing for God!

For those who have attended the Worship Nite on Sat ( 20 sept), I hope that we would start telling ourselves to CHANGE. to CHANGE ourselves to glorify God. Are we all willing to take our 1st step to CHANGE? I'm sure you will. May the Holy Spirit guide us and help us to CHANGE.
For the committee and all involved ( the worship leaders, musicians and the men in black- log ppl), great job! I believed that this is another phrase of our learning experience while serving God. We faced difficulties and we walked through it. Its amazing..dont you all think so?
"With God, Nothing is impossible!"
For the photos..i am still compiling at this moment. Deacon Xi Sheng have already finished the video. At this point, i wont pass it around yet. I will be burning the DVD for everyone involved. but do spare me say 2-4 weeks. Hopefully, you will get the video + photos in DVD format to all involved by end of Oct or early Nov 08. Pardon me if i give late as i will having exams late oct to early nov.
After i get hold of the photos, you will be able to download the photos on this portal. so look out for photos for Worship Nite 08.

Tickets avaliable are for the 27th Nov ( Afternoon show- 3.30pm)
For those who wants the tickets for 29th Nov evening show, pls reserve tickets with Yisin or Isaac Wong or Ming Hui.
For 29th Nov tickets, priority will be given to youths above age 19. ( poly yr 3 and above).

as the September holiday is coming to an end, hope you guys did enjoy it and of course taking a break from all the madness from school.
anyway just want to let you guys read something from the daily bread.
personally, this "post" came to me at a very right time. i was pretty much down and didt know what to do.i felt that i was alone and feeling quite uncertain. i thought what i could do was just cry my heart out. however, there were friends who just carried me through the times of trouble.
in turn, after reading that i felt that the love that others have shared to me should be shared with others as well. so just nice i was with a couple of friends and i told one of them and said, "Hang on, you are going to go through all this!" :)
so when you're free, do encourage your fellow friends. encourage them to persevere and show your love for them! cos' i'm sure that they will feel your love for them. :)

Pray for the logistics and stage crew ( Wen Han , Xiu Cheng, Song Yang, Yu Hang, Wan Xuan). Pray for their health and walk with God as well as alertness and clear co-ordination of sound, lighting control, ppt control , videos on the nite itself.
Thank God that despite the limited manpower, the logistics and stage crew are able to run quite smoothly during the rehearsals

i have like loads of stuff to do. be it school, church, friends. all these commitments are kind of drowning me. but now, somehow i've been constantly reminded of this verse, it brought me strength. hopefully after reading this, you'll find strength that will last you throughout the day [or even forever!]! :)

We would like to seek all the youths in GUM to be the befrienders & ushers for "The Promise" Musical held at NUS University Cultural Centre from 27 Nov to 29 Nov 2008.
Currently, we have

Befrienders: 3 people!
our target is 65 !

A question for all : Do we throw away the 秩序单 everytime we were given by the ushers every sunday after every 培训? Do we take a look at the prayer requests and the upcoming events only when the annoucements is made and throw away after that? I would like to share this story " All because someone prayed" by Max Lucado. Think about it again before we even throw away the 秩序单. Bring it home and pray for the items on the prayer list. You never know your prayer works. Your prayer is important!
Those who pray keep alive the watch fires of faith. For the most partwe don’t even know their names. Such is the case of someone whoprayed on a day long ago.
His name is not important. His looks are immaterial. His gender is ofno concern. His title is irrelevant. He is important not because ofwho he was, but because of what he did.
He went to Jesus on behalf of a friend. His friend was sick, andJesus could help, and someone needed to go to Jesus, so someone went.
John writes: “So Mary and Martha sent someone to tell Jesus, ‘Lord,the one you love is sick’” (John 11:3).
Someone carried the request. Someone walked the trail. Someone wentto Jesus on behalf of Lazarus. And because someone went, Jesusresponded.
The Master heard the request. Jesus stopped whatever he was doing andtook note of the man’s words. This anonymous courier was heard by God.
You can talk to God because God listens. Your voice matters inheaven. He takes you very seriously. When you enter his presence, theattendants turn to you to hear your voice. No need to fear that youwill be ignored. Even if you stammer or stumble, even if what youhave to say impresses no one, it impresses God—and he listens. Helistens to the painful plea of the elderly in the rest home. Helistens to the gruff confession of the death-row inmate. When thealcoholic begs for mercy, when the spouse seeks guidance, when thebusinessman steps off the street into the chapel, God listens.
Intently. Carefully. The prayers are honored as precious jewels.Purified and empowered, the words rise in a delightful fragrance toour Lord. “The smoke from the incense went up from the angel’s handto God” (Rev. 8:4). Incredible. Your words do not stop until theyreach the very throne of God.
One call and heaven’s fleet appears. Your prayer on earth activatesGod’s power in heaven.
You are the someone of God’s kingdom. Your prayers move God to changethe world. You may not understand the mystery of prayer. You don’tneed to. But this much is clear: Actions in heaven begin when someoneprays on earth. What an amazing thought!
When you speak, Jesus hears.
And when Jesus hears, the world is changed.
All because someone prayed.

•我们在7月12日的筹款活动上，为长老会中学和恩园小学筹得了＄680，000 的款项。
For the Fund Raising Event on 12 July, we have raised a total of approximately $680,000 for Presbyterian High School and Grace Orchard School
•上帝垂听Dennis Oh （饰演耶稣） 为着全职做宣教工作的祷告。
God answered the prayer of Dennis Oh (cast playing Jesus) for full-time mission work.
需要
•为着所需要填补的演员空缺祷告，尤其是耶稣和马利亚的角色。
Pray that the casts required for the musical to be filled up, especially for the roles of Jesus and Mary.
•为着申请能把动物带上舞台的执照祷告。
Pray that we will be able obtained the license to get live animals on stage at UCC.
•为着制作组（技术和舞台）能按时完工祷告。
Pray for production (technical & stage )to be able to be able to meet schedule.
•为着能招募到所需要的陪谈员和招待员人数祷告。
Pray for the recruitment of Befrienders and Ushers. That we will be able to meet the required number of volunteers

Keep Moving Forward
An article i read from my school campus crusade blog:)
When we are faithful where we are God is faithful to open doors to bigger things. But we still have to move to get through them. So many young people say they are waiting on God’s leading, yet they are not moving to explore the opportunities right in front of them. Some of this stems from laziness, some from fear of failure, and the rest from simply misunderstanding how the leading of God works.There is an old saying that goes, “The door of opportunity opens only to those who knock.” The point of the saying is that opportunities arise when you are looking for them. Jesus tells us to ask, seek and knock. Things usually start to happen once you start moving.God’s leading often works the same way. He rarely plops opportunities onto the laps of couch potatoes. His favor rests on those who have prepared for bigger things through faithfulness in small things — and especially on those who have prepared, are looking for an opportunity, and keep on moving.There is no better biblical example of this principle than the story of The Macedonian Call in the Book of Acts:
Acts 16:6-10 (ESV) “And [Paul, Silas, and Timothy] went through the region of Phygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithnynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately [they] sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called [them] to preach the gospel to them.”At first glance this seems like a boring passage with a bunch of funny names in it, but if we look closely we can that God is teaching us important things about how He leads us to do His will. Put yourself in their shoes and see what you learn.First, notice that they know that they are not supposed to go to Asia. That’s a lot like us sometimes. We know what we are not supposed to do, but we aren’t so sure about what we are supposed be doing.Second, you see them setting out for Bithynia. We can guess they probably sat down and had some sort of pow-wow and decided that Bithynia was the place God wanted them to be. Imagine how easy it would be for them to get discouraged when on their way to do what they thought God wanted them to do the Holy Spirit stops them.Now, if God has ever slammed the door in your face when you thought you were doing His will, you can probably relate to the confusion and the discouragement that this group may have been tempted to feel. What is God up to? What does He want me to do?The most beautiful part of this story is the next line, where it says, “So… they went down to Troas.” Now this might not seem all that significant if you don’t take into account the context. They have been kept out of Asia and after thinking that God wanted them in Bithynia they have been kept out of there too. Twice the door has been shut in their faces. From a human standpoint they have every reason to say, “God, we have no idea what you want us to do, and frankly, we no longer care. Until you are willing to tell us plainly we are going to stay here and get comfortable.”And to be honest, this is the way we are often tempted to respond. But instead, in a radical display of faith in God’s leading, they kept moving — they went down to Troas. And in Troas God sent a vision to Paul calling them to Macedonia and they were able to go immediately — the door was wide open.Now to some people it may seem confusing that God waited until they got to Troas to call them to Macedonia. It would make more sense for Him to let them know right after He closed the door to Bithynia — kind of the whole “close a door, open a window” idea. But instead we see that God wanted them to keep going, to keep moving, even after two doors had been closed. Then, in response to their persistence, He opened the door of opportunity wide open.What we see in the story of The Macedonia Call is a situation we can relate to and a principle that we can live by. We see how God was clearly guiding these early Christians, even when things seemed confusing or looked bleak to them — and we are encouraged in our own struggle to discern God’s will for our lives.Furthermore, we learn God wants us to pursue every open door, confident that He will close them if they are not His will. As long as we are faithful to take advantage of what we have — our minds, God’s Word, the counsel of our parents, etc. — then we can move forward with full confidence that God will shut the door if we are not supposed to go through it.This principle is crucial because many young people get paralyzed with the fear that they will choose the wrong college, the wrong career path, the wrong spouse, etc. and they stop moving. We are not saying that God will prevent us from ever making a horrible decision. But what we are saying is that when we are faithful to walk within the little bit of light that we have from our own knowledge and experience, from the advice of our parents and counselors, and most importantly, from God’s Word, we can make decisions confidently trusting that God will honor our steps of faith by clearly opening or closing the door — our part is to keep moving forward.-

As long as we are faithful to take advantage of what we have — our minds, God’s Word, the counsel of our parents, etc. — then we can move forward with full confidence that God will shut the door if we are not supposed to go through it.This principle is crucial because many young people get paralyzed with the fear that they will choose the wrong college, the wrong career path, the wrong spouse, etc. and they stop moving. We are not saying that God will prevent us from ever making a horrible decision. But what we are saying is that when we are faithful to walk within the little bit of light that we have from our own knowledge and experience, from the advice of our parents and counselors, and most importantly, from God’s Word, we can make decisions confidently trusting that God will honor our steps of faith by clearly opening or closing the door — our part is to keep moving forward.-

as of my observations recently, i see a lot of people struggling with work, especially school. BOO..
i know i know, we all have a certain feeling for it. so hang on, most important to God. Let Him lead the way.
Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.

Hey people. There's this really good that i've got to recommend and you don't even have to buy it to read it! http://www.leaderu.com/cyber/books/imitation/imitation.html It's called the Imitation of Christ. It's a Christian classic that has been around for centuries but it's truth continues to apply, just like the Bible.
Do not expect a book that makes you feel good about yourself but rather help us realize how far we are away from being Christians and how much we have fallen since the first disciples. It's not an easy read either but perseverence in reading, meditating and applying them (Maybe not so much part 4 of the book though) would bear much fruit, i'm sure.

Prayer Request/ Mission Trip
The Youth Ministry is sending a team of 13-15 co-workers to church planting site ( Kukup) for a site visit cum prayer & sharing camp. Activities involved in the camp include praying& sharing session and visiting various houses in the area to understand the people in Kukup. The commissioning ceremony will be held this sunday at the 1230 service. Please pray for journey safety, preparation of hearts ready for the mission trip.

Prayer Requests
China earthquake, Mynamar Cyclone
- Continue to keep the people in Sichun province in prayers. Many children/youths have lost their parents and families during the earthquake. Pray for comfort during this time of loss. Till date, there are more than 68,000 deaths.
- Continue to pray for the people in Mynamar. The government there have allowed international aids to help the victims of the cyclone. Pray for the smooth aid work in Mynamar. Till date, 133,000 people dead and missing in total.
GUM Youth Ministry (荣耀堂青少年事工) - The Youth Ministry is sending a team to church planting site in Kukup for a prayer-sharing camp on 13-14 June 2008. Pray for the missionary work that will be done during this camp and the preparations of the hearts of each team member before going for the camp. The leaders leading this camp will be Bro Francis ( 导师）and Sis Yii Han.
- Pray for the preparations of the various upcoming events by the Youth Fellowship. This includes the chalet ( 16-18 Jun 2008) , Youth Sunday program preparations -bros and sisters serving in the 2 services, special item by the youths ( 20 Jul 2008) , Worship Night ( 16 Aug 08)
- Pray for the preparations of the year end youth camp. ( More details will be provided at a later date)
- Sis Yisin ( Timothy Grp) will be baptised tomorrow ( 1st June). Continue to pray for her as she continues in her walk with God.
Synod Youth Ministry ( 长老大会青年事工) - Continue to keep the Synod Musical in prayers, the preprations etc. Pray that fellow bros and sis will bring at least a non-christian to this musical event so that they will know the great and mighty God.

prayer work wonders
This coming Sunday is not only International Mother's Day. But its also the Global Day of Prayer. This year, Global Day of Prayer ( GDOP) Singapore 2008 is held at th National Indoor Stadium on the 11th May. There are 2 services. 1 at 3pm ( Chinese service) another at 730pm ( English service). Do try to go for this event if can besides celebrating Mother's Day with your mum. Prayer works wonders ! Even if you are not going for the event, take time to pray for your family,friends, your church, christians in Singapore and all over the world, your country-Singapore, Pray for the people in Myanmar ( many died during a recent typhoon). Always remember prayer works wonders.

How true it is that all things that happen work together! even what may seem wrong in our eyes is indeed what will be a tool in completing His perfect plan! :)
chap 8: 38-39 - 'For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.'
Do you feel that God seems to be very far and His love is no longer showered upon you?

The bible says " Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for , it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two, or three come together in my name, there am I with them" Matthew 18: 19-20

For the current poly students, i'm sure school just started just yesterday ( mon). For those who just started poly, i'm sure it will be a new start to your education career. So, let's pray for all poly students who just entered poly or already in poly that they may adapt to the new poly life. Pray that they will be the salt and the light for God while in poly!

Pray for all brothers and sisters in universities who are having their semester papers till June. Pray for their health, spiritual life and that they may do well for their papers and gloried His Name !

Pray for all the students be it taking their mid-year exams, or preparing for 'O' levels or ' A' Levels. Pray for their health while mugging and their spiritual walk with God !
